Quetzal

Quetzal Duo mainly performs traditional music from the south of Mexico in a very personal and intimate interpretation.
In the region of origin (Oaxaca and surroundings) this music plays an important role in community life. Steeped in local legends and universal themes such as love and death, this music connects people. Most music is not attributed to a single composer, but regarded as cultural heritage of the community. It is music of the people played for the people.
Quetzal also tries to convey this sense of community in their concerts. In an individualized society such as ours, music can create a connection between musicians and audience and between audiences.
The emotional experience is central to Quetzal's music. For the musicians it is a means of expression of their personal feelings, for the listener it is an invitation to come into contact with their own feelings.
