Toine Thys Trio feat Hervé Samb
The TOINE THYS TRIO power back on to the scene with their new album, GRIZZLY (‘Must’ award from TSF Jazz radio, ‘Revelation’ on Jazzmag, ‘Dicovery’ on Jazznews). Their previous album took them all around Europe and pick up the Jazzman/Jazzmag “Révélation”award.
The Brussels saxophonist Toine Thys is joined on this new album by the undeniable master of the Hammond organ, the Dutchman Arno Krijger. Arno’s performances are visual and spectacular and he is one of the rare organists to follow in the footsteps of Larry Young, playing the chords on the keys and the bass on the pedals.
The trio’s energy is magnified by the talented and spirited young prodigy Antoine Pierre – Philip Catherine’s resident drummer and recent winner of the Toots Thielemans Jazz Award 2014.
Toine Thys glides effortlessly from the tenor sax to the soprano and onto the bass clarinet with incisive and inspired playing. The trio accentuate the rhythmic dimension and the groove of the music.
