Marie-Paule Franke Trio
MARIE PAULE FRANKE
From an early age, Marie-Paule Franke was immersed in classical music, mostly because of her father who was a Jewish/German cellist and played freelance in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. She soon learned to play the piano and as a young-adult, she began to sing in several bands.
She developed herself not only a versatile vocalist but also writes her own compositions and lyrics.
In a roundabout way through pop, rock, funk and chanson, jazz became her favorite genre. In the nineties she took singing lessons with David Linx at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium) and master classes with the New York jazz vocalist Judy Niemack. In 2014 she recorded her first album 'Tales of a Lonely Room', in collaboration with Erik Vermeulen (piano) and Jouni Isoherranen (electric bass).
In November 2018, while visiting the Jazz clubs in New York, she met Grammy award winning bass player, John Benitez and this led to a collaboration.
In April 2019 she recorded the album ‘Clouds’ in the Mozart studio, New York, which contains nine of her own compositions, arranged by John Benitez.
