Milan Verbist Trio

The trio Verbist/Baars/Lagatie consists of Milan Verbist on piano, Tristan Baars on double bass and Arne Lagatie on drums. The three musicians met each other at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 2020, where all three studied at the time. Tristan and Milan have since graduated. The repertoire consists of own work by all band members, as well as existing compositions. The band's emphasis is on teamwork in which there is attention for groove, swing and free improvisation, but always with a lot of attention for interplay, melody and space. They get inspiration from, among others, Bill Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Keith Jarrett, Bobo Stenson, Herbie Hancock, Marcin Wasilewski... The trio has already played concerts in, among others, Rataplan, GC Felix Sohie, Kunstencentrum Kaleidoscope, during Jazz in Thals, Kaffee Damast ... and Milan's graduation concert in arts center De Singel. They also recorded for VRT Klara, see further in this document. The trio has already played 25 concerts together and has grown into a close-knit group.
