MARIE-PAULE FRANKE
From an early age, Marie-Paule Franke was immersed in classical music, mostly because of her father who was a Jewish/German cellist and played freelance in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. She soon learned to play the piano and as a young-adult, she began to sing in several bands.
She developped herself not only a versatile vocalist but also writes her own compositions and lyrics.
In a roundabout way through pop, rock, funk and chanson, jazz became her favorite genre.In the nineties she took singing lessons with David Linx at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium) and master classes with the New York jazz vocalist Judy Niemack. In 2014 she recorded her first album 'Tales of a Lonely Room', in collaboration with Erik Vermeulen (piano) and Jouni Isoherranen (electric bass).
In November 2018, while visiting the Jazz clubs in New York, she met Grammy award winning bass player, John Benitez and this led to a collaboration.
In april 2019 she recorded the album ‘Clouds’ in the Mozart studio, New York, which contains nine of her own compositions, arranged by John Benitez.
SABIN TODOROV
Sabin Todorov was born in 1966 in the town of Burgas, Bulgaria. He graduated the Conservatory in Sofia at the Department of Theory of Classical Music. Then, he taught solfeggio, musical analysis, and harmony at the Secondary School of Music in the town of Burgas. In the same time, drawn in jazz, he played in various formations and gave concerts in the country for the period from 1990 to 1997. In 1997 he arrived in Belgium and continued his education at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. He graduated in June 2004 with Grand Distinction, in the special subject of Jazz Piano. Sabin Todorov is a jazz pianist, composer, teacher. He is very active on the Belgian Jazz scene.
WIM RAMON
Wim Ramon studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and works as a bass player with a large number of projects in the jazz, songwriter and folk world (including Q Some Big Band, a few shows with Tom Robinson, Vaya Con Dios), playing concerts from Norway to Italy, and participated in CD productions and live concerts on radio and TV. He teaches double bass, bass guitar, combo and rhythm lab at the GO Art Academy in Ghent. Wim is also founder of the 'VZWVoluté', which organizes local jazz concerts and also provides publications for the near future.
In addition to the permanent projects, Wim also plays as a freelancer in many bands and orchestras.
