New Florida Trio

"The New Florida Trio is a music project founded in April 2019, based in Den Haag (NL). Basic idea behind the trio’s conception is an inner urge towards the confirmation of the essential features of the Afro-American tradition as well as the definition of the lines of the jazz to come.

The three founders are:

- Matteo Calabrese on alto sax

- Ignacio Santoro on double bass

- Guillermo Almo on drums.

Matteo is a saxophone player from Italy. He holds a master degree in Jazz Composition from the Conservatory of Firenze and a master in Economics from Utrecht University. He has played as both band leader and sideman in many projects (Alessandro Giachero Trio, Giulio Stracciati trio, Jazz-zoo, Riso Patate’n Folk).
Ignacio is a jazz bass player and composer born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He moved to The Netherlands in 2013, where he obtained his bachelor and master degree from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Nowadays he is releasing his first leader album “3KL”.
Guillermo is a versatile drummer form Sevilla, Spain. His musical career has taken him through stages around the world (South Korea, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Belgium, Spain), playing styles such us Hard Bop, Cumbia, Free Jazz, Ska or Thrash Metal. Besides, he is also an active painter and graphic designer (the cover of this event is one of his exposed works)

Their repertoire goes from originals to sax trio renditions of compositions of jazz masters such as Benny Golson, Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, Pat Metheny, etc. "
